James the Headmaster, Riaan the PE teacher and Lucas Carter (10 years old in Year 6) all from Muswell Hill Primary School are running the Regent's Park 10km to raise money for SLOW bereavement charity on Sunday 2nd July 2017 in memory of Lucas's sister, Esme.
SLOW (Surviving the Loss of Your World), is a local charity based in Islington, that has supported Lucas (and his family) after his two-year-old sister, Esme, died a few years ago, in tragic circumstances. SLOW has a simple concept – it’s a charity run by bereaved parents for bereaved parents and their surviving children. SLOW provides weekly support groups for parents that have suffered the devastating loss of a child and they also run creative sibling workshops for bereaved parents’ surviving children. Lucas has been a regular participant of their sibling workshops where he’s met lots of other kids that have lost their brothers or sisters and he also gets to make amazing creations, often in Esme’s memory.
While Riaan and Lucas has been training for some years at Riaan’s Runabout Club and before, James has let his running slip a little lately! With the pressure on, James has suddenly kicked back into gear and is looking forward to the race. Please, please support them so that they can raise money in Esme’s memory so that the charity can continue to help others that have been through the worst thing in the world.
Thank you
James, Riaan and Lucas
