About

I am running the great north run in support of a very deserving project which is close to my heart.
Any funds raised will go to help continue the fantastic work T1KZ delivers to children young people and their families who live with the chronic health condition Type 1 Diabetes.

Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune condition where the cells in the pancreas that make insulin are attacked by the bodies immune system and stop making insulin.  No one is to blame for this but children with the condition need to monitor their blood glucose regularly with finger pricks sometimes up to 10 times per day and 4 plus injections.

Often children can feel isolated as they go through their school life without having the opportunity to meet others with the same condition.  T1KZ provides that space were they can feel normal, supported and just like everyone else, sharing experiences and seeing others treat their condition in the same way.
