Hi all! I decided to take up a whole new challenge for me...a half- marathon, 13 miles, 21 km!!!
As many of you know I was so averse to running, having never done it as a sport before and refusing to even try. Now this changed, as the only thing that motivated me to do it is this fantastic charity...KEEN London (http://www.keenlondon.org/)! I will join them on the Hackney Half Marathon, 19th of May 2019 trying to raise money and awareness about this incredible charity.
They are a wonderful group of people who provide support for special needs children and young adults in the form of sports, activities, trips, outdoor adventures and even residentials away from home! It's a place where special needs children can be free, make friends and be in a safe and playful environment that helps them grow. When I first arrived to London, they became my family away from home, everyone, from the volunteers to the kids and the parents, is a wonderful human being. I have made friends for life and I have found a charity that truly deserves my time, effort and money! Their mission is dear to me, having a special needs brother I understand and can see first hand what a great help and impact they have on the children's lives and their family.
Your money will help the charity grow, to support even more children and families. It will give KEEN the opportunity to expand in multiple areas of London, to have funds for outdoor trips and to maintain their Easter and Summer residentials, look at some pictures and videos! It will also go a long way in ensuring that a team of dedicated an passionate coordinators are always present and can meet the needs of the kids and families they support!
Having volunteered for them for over 7 years, now I have decided it's time to step it up! Running is the way to go! So please, help me support KEEN by donating whatever you can, no matter how small. It's for a great cause and you will not regret it! Thank you all so much!
Lots of love,
Amira
