While I appreciate giving up alcohol should not be a massively heroic act, working in a pub and spending most of my free time in other pubs means I do generally drink on most days. Spending a month not touching a drop will genuinely challenge me, and I'm already looking forward to November 1st.
I'm not doing this for my health or for the sake of it: Bath Welcomes Refugees have already done some amazing work settling refugees in Bath and supporting initiatives across the city and the country.
To be able to settle another family of refugees, they must raise £10,000. Obviously me giving up booze for a month doesn't warrant that, but anything I can raise to get them a bit closer to the goal helps - even if instead the money goes to buying toiletries and welcome packs for those coming here in need.
I intend to give all of what is raised to them without any restrictions, as I have full confidence in them to allocate it where it is needed most.
Please give anything you can, and give generously. The cost of the pint you would have bought me ;) would help bring this ever closer to their huge target.
I might even set up milestones and post pictures of myself looking miserable drinking lemonade. Then video the first time I'm drunk in November.
