Hi everyone,
Thanks for visiting this page, and it would be great if you could lend some financial support. I ran a 10K race on March 18th 2018 to raise money for a cause close to my heart. It was originally supposed to be the Fulham 10k, but that was cancelled because of bad weather. But I ran 10k that morning anyway, a figure of 8 between Hammersmith, Barnes and Chiswick Bridges
West London Welcome is the first drop-in centre for refugees, asylum seekers and migrants in West London. The centre opened in January 2018 and already has an average of 40 visitors a day. It provides a warm safe space for people to come in out of the cold, have a cup of tea, learn English, share ideas, enjoy hot nutritious food, and not be lonely and isolated.
I've seen the great work that West London Welcome does at first hand. On my free Thursday afternoons lately I've been popping in to make music with some of those who are there. We had a great session last week where I accompanied a singing session on the piano - it meant me learning lots of Central African and French songs by ear pretty sharpish...
If you feel you can make a financial donation, the money raised will help to pay for
- cost of hot lunches and pay Living Wage to the refugee chefs
- buy IT equipment
- pay the travel cost to asylum seekers who cannot work or receive benefits
- teaching materials for English classes
Thanks very much to everyone who has so generously contributed!
