I'm still taking my now 23 year old to gigs! Yes that's us at the last one, a Queen tribute act and take note I'm the one in the ear defenders! As much as we love our shared enthuusiasm for live music, adults with learning disabilities are often faced with a stark choice (go with mum or go home) or no choice. It's very tough being a vulnerable adult in our society.
Stay Up Late and Gig Buddies matches volunteer enthusiasts with those in need of a gig buddy. It's a vital service which costs money to run. I'm raising funds for the charity by participating in the Cardiff Half Marathon on October 1st 2023, because who really wants to go gigging with their mum?? I'd love my son and his friends to go out without me someday. Gig Buddies aims to provide the vital personal support needed for this to become a reality.
The mental health and life opportunities are sadly still too limited for those living with learning disabilities. Your donation can literally put a smile on the face, a shake of the hips and a tap of those toes. Put some soul into your giving. Rock n roll is all about the expression and sharing of feelings. I love rock n roll, so put another dime in the jukebox, baby. Come and take your time and dance with HIM.
