Running is something that I always wanted to be good at, but usually struggled to do for more than 5 mins! I used to make excuses for not running like having no time, and other social commitments getting in the way, but now feel that I have the right motivation and energy to take on this challenge.
Having a partner that runs has inspired me immensely. He regularly runs races and makes me want to be hot on his heels when he is achieving his personal best, always competing with himself. I am to keep up the running after this first event and having the opportunity to compete against myself. I am also am looking forward to my first race medal! Having told everyone that I am doing it, has kept me incredibly motivated and I have been really committed to my training so I don't completely fail.
Having never run a marathon before I am looking forward to the sense of achievement I shall get and I aim to achieve a time of 2 hours and 20 minutes based on my running pace for one mile at the moment. I am currently tracking all my runs on Strava and shall update you on my training journey!
Mothers Uncovered (part of Livestock) sessions are based at a centre that I used to volunteer in which made me aware of the great work and positive effect that these sessions were having for mothers. Using arts to engage mothers in relocating or maintaining their sense of self-identity is an amazing tool, one that I feel I can relate to having a joy for music and singing myself.
I look forward to the run and doing it for this effective and beneficial charity.
