The community has been given the opportunity to purchase the historic Crook Inn. We have until the end of the year to raise £160,000, which will secure the inn for the community.
Why they need our serviceThe Crook Inn has been a focal point for the remote rural community of Tweedsmuir in the Scottish Borders for over 400 years. It's closure in 2006 has left a huge gap in a community already under pressure due to the loss of public services and transport, lack of affordable housing, loss of young families from the area, loss of training and employment opportunities, to name but a few. The community purchase of the inn would provide a focal point and hub that will re-invigorate the community.
Plan and expected resultsThis initial project will secure the Crook Inn for the community. The ownership of the property will provide a fantastic resource for the community to develop a social hub, offering training, employment, education, meeting space and a tourist destination. This will improve the social cohesion of our community.
