Why they need our serviceSince the 7/7 London bombings an increasing amount of Muslim women contacted our charity about anti-Muslim hate crimes they and their children had faced including head-scarf pulling and being verbally and physically abused on public transport. In 2010, 48,127 hate crimes were recorded by police forces in the UK-39,311 were racist crimes and 2,007 were religious hate crimes. The project serves as a medium for victims to report the crime they have suffered and gain support, guidance and assistance.
Plan and expected resultsWe aim to raise awareness of hate crimes particularly those against refugee, asylum-seeking and Muslim women and we aim to empower victims and their supporters to take action! The successful outcome of the project would be an increase in reported crimes and victims who no longer feel scared and vulnerable but who see themselves at the center of eradicating the hate crimes which they previously felt they had to endure silently.Reaching as many people as possible we want to create lasting change.
