FVP are holding a festive network fundraising event to raise £1000 to pay for two coaches to take families with disabled children to the seaside in the summer of 2014. All funds raised through ticket sales, the auction on the night and donations will be used to pay for the coaches which will be fully accessible. The event is being held at and is in cooperation with the Great Northern Hotel Peterborough.
Why they need our serviceBy raising the funds for the coaches families who would not necessarily be able to do so due to their caring responsibilities and the needs of their disabled child(ren)can have a fun experience and a day trip out that would not always be possible due to the costs involved. Many Parents who have a child/ young person with a disability would normally struggle to take their children to the sea side and providing a fully accessible coach means that this is made possible
Plan and expected resultsMany families are often on a low income/living below the poverty line. The coach trips provide an experience normally beyond their means. The coach trip enables families in similar situations to come together for a few hours, this breaks down the barriers to feeling of isolation many of the families feel around living with a disabled child
