River Severn walk for Cruse Bereavement Care

The River Severn is the longest river in the United Kingdom; this spring I will be walking from the source in the Welsh mountains to its mouth at Severn Beach near Bristol. The walk is approx 211 miles! I am walking to raise funds for Cruse Bereavement Care Birmingham. Cruse is now celebrating 40 years of providing much needed services to Birmingham. Cruse provides vital bereavement support to all Birmingham residents, including preventative early intervention services for vulnerable people - young and old. I have recently had the privilege of joining the management committee in Birmingham and, in the short time I have been involved with the charity, I have been amazed by the excellent, but often unrecognized, work that they do. Shortly before Christmas I met some of the outstanding volunteers who provide support to people when they are at their most distressed and vulnerable. I was astounded by the dedication and commitment of these volunteers who give up their time to be there for people when they need it most. Without financial support Cruse would not be able to carry out the vital work it does. Death is still a taboo subject to many, yet we all at one time lose people close to us. Death affects people in many different ways and each person has their own experience. Personally I know of many situations where the support of the volunteers from Cruse would have had a positive impact. I am completing this mammoth walk in the hope of raising funds to support Cruse to continue to deliver its vital services. Thank you for taking the time to visit this fundraising page.
