We need your help to carry out an essential upgrade to the toilets adjacent to the sports hall and café. Our toilets are in a bad state of repair. Upgrading will significantly improve our provision to many people. The footfall in our building (which is used every day of the week, throughout the year), is around 1000 people per week.
We are trying to raise the necessary funds. If you could donate any amount, that will help us to secure grants, as we need to demonstrate that we have raised funds of our own.
The gents' and ladies' toilets, and the sluice room, on the top floor of our building are in a bad state of repair. They need to be completely refurbished. As they are adjacent to our café and sports hall, they are used daily by many people, every day of the week, throughout the year. This is by far the busiest floor of our 3-storey building.
Our church has quinquennial inspections by an architect. The latest was in 2021, extracts are below:
 Ladies toilets:
"Melamine faced cubicle partitions are just about functional." "Ceiling – Plasterboard ceiling; clearly there has been a leak above the cubicles judging
by the bowing of the plasterboard and the hole in the middle where water has clearly dripped through; hopefully it is old. The same hole was reported in the last Quinquennial. Low cracking around the plasterboard joints need attending when the refurbishment is carried out." "Single vanity basin and a worktop. The melamine panel in front is again functional and really needs an improvement. Slightly dilapidated MDF radiator type grille casing is just about intact but again could do with improvement."
 Gents' toilets:
"The sanitary fittings are dated but functional. There are plans to remodel the whole area and as such new fittings will be used. Lots of staining around
the base of the Disabled WC pan which suggests leaking is a problem and there is also a bucket under the spare pipe which obviously needs some attention." "Window – Glass louvres in an aluminium frame and obviously draughty. Secondary glazing and mechanical ventilation in the Toilets is certainly the way forward. Removing the window is going to be problematic due to the significant drop on the other side." (applies to the ladies' too).
We have a lot of elderly and disabled people using our building, including wheelchair users. We need to convert one of the cubicles to a unisex fully accessible toilet and shower space.
These refurbishments will benefit so many people!
