SHP Wandsworth supports 49 people who are vulnerable and socially excluded because of mental ill health. We run an 11-bed project providing accommodation and support for people with medium-high mental health support needs for 18-24 months. We also manage 4 short-term shared houses in Balham and Tooting Bec and 11 self-contained flats for people with low to medium support needs.
Why they need our serviceSHP Wandsworth provides a vital service for people in the borough who have become homeless due to mental ill health and require support to help them engage with services, learn a range of skills, and ultimately move on to independent living. We support clients in a range of activities - day trips/outings, cookery, lifeskills training, a Women's Group, a maths/literacy group, a gardening project and a programme that helps people build confidence and self-esteem to help them achieve their aims.
Plan and expected resultsOur aim is to help our clients address the problems that lead to homelessness, and make a lasting improvement to their quality of life through practical support, connecting them with local services, life skills training, access to education, training and employment, and a programme of activities that help them build confidence and develop the structures and routines needed to live independently, gain a job and secure a permanent home
