Its Digital Detox time this weekend. I will be giving up all screens and connected technology for 24 hours from 24 - 25 February 2018. I am doing this to support Focus West London, a Saturday school for children with autism. I set up Focus two years ago to provide a fun-centred learning space and social club for children with autism and their families in the West London area. Each cohort runs for 15 weeks. This is our third cohort and over this time we have supported 35 children and their families. This is one of its kind setting which provides children on the autistic spectrum a fun, nurturing child centred environment to learn vital play, socialise, communicate and make friendships. At Focus, every child is provided with a volunteer therapist trained in a highly effective behavioural intervention. Families have the opportunity to hear expert speakers on a range of topics relevant to their child's needs, as well as socialise and connect with other families facing similar challenges. The tutors that we train also benefit, not only from the training and experience gained from volunteering, but through job opportunities arising with the families that use the Club. It's a difficult climate for charitable organisations like Focus and this year we are facing a funding shortfall, so your sponsorship really matters. Please sponsor me and help raise money for Focus!
