The Sinstitute of Hip Hop Arts (SoHHA) will take place at The Junction, Cambridge in April 2012. The first four days will be a Masterclass for higher level break dancers. It will be followed by five days of activities in Break Dancing, Graffiti, MCing, DJing etc for all levels and will include a strand for pre-school children which will be an introduction to movement and dance. Urban SINfonie, at the end of the week is a showcase participants from both parts of SoHHA.
Why they need our serviceMany of the young people in our community lack the confidence to participate in arts activities, especially young boys who regard dance or art as not being 'for them'. There are also not many facilities and activities outside school or the home and a reluctance to move away away from safe patches or ways of behaving. SOHHA addresses these issues through its approach to creative learning.
Plan and expected resultsThis is an exciting artistic and community project for the young people of Cambridgeshire. Through the artforms of Hip Hop it will enable participants to develop their creative and expressive abilities, and improve their co-ordination, creative abilities, communication skills, team working, physical condition and health.
