I'm delighted to be supporting this fantastic event again this year and looking forward to taking part in the Sleep Out at Eden Project on 10th November. It is likely to be a very cold, wet night sleeping out just on a cardboard mat and a sleeping bag, but I have been totally inspired by the wonderful work that St Petroc's Society (and other homelessness charities) do and want to support them in any way I can. I hope you will feel able to offer what you can by way of sponsorship. I mean - could you face the cold of a November night with nothing but a sleeping bag and a cardboard mat? Come on people - please dig deep! Homelessness could affect any of us in our lifetime. Relationship breakdowns and job loss are a few of the factors that can lead to this situation. Remember - many of us are just 2 pay cheques away from potentially becoming homeless! Government figures show that Cornwall is the 5th highest area in the UK for rough sleepers. This is shocking news. Most are either from Cornwall or have lived and worked in the county for a significant time. Others travel to the county fleeing violence or in search of employment and a fresh start. For many, the county is simply the end of the line on the train. About St Petroc’s Society: St Petroc's exists to provide a diverse range of services for the single homeless, who, more often than not, fall outside the responsibility of statutory authorities. The Society provides accommodation, support, advice, training and resettlement services to single homeless people in Cornwall. Within resources available, they strive to provide the best quality of service possible. Their primary aim is to provide these services to people aged 16-65 years and for whom no provision is made within the community, either statutory or otherwise. Wish me luck! Thank you very much for your support Jo
