St Petroc's Society is currently celebrating it's 30th anniversary. Since 1986 it has been supporting single homeless people who find themselves living on the streets of Cornwall. Providing outreach services, supported accommodation, substance misuse helpline and counselling and 'drop in' services including showers, wc, clothing and resettlement team.
Its a very sad fact that the services of the Society are needed now more than ever with Cornwall having the 5th highest number of rough sleepers in the country. With austerity the Society has seen a reduction in commissioned services which means that the numbers are only going to get worse in the coming months.
Its is true that you may only ever be one paycheck away from being homeless. Many of us have the love and support of family and friends to fall back on in tough times. I hope that St Petroc's will always be there when it is needed to catch those people who are not as fortunate and to support them as our family and friends support us.
I am proud to be associated with St Petroc's Society and what is stands for.
