This challenge is about so many things - it starts with raising money for a good cause. Age Connect Morgannwyg do vital work with over 50’s in one of the most deprived areas of Wales. Everyone of us hopes to grow old and yet as a society we don’t always meet the needs of our elderly population and AC makes a massive difference in filling that gap.
This brings me to Covid-19 which has impacted all of us this year and none more so than the charitable sector. With all the fun, fundraising stuff not happening charities have been hit hard, it has become more difficult for them to fund their vital services. My challenge has also grown up out of this situation. Whilst during lockdown I have been lucky enough to spend lots of time in nature (a vital ingredient to our wellbeing) I have found myself walking less without the incidental walking that was part of my daily life. So I have challenged myself to walk 2500 miles over the next 18 months and raise £1500 for Age Connect Morgawnnwg.
Fresh Air Fridays is a coaching organisation I founded 7 years, ago that provides the space, support and skills so that you can know how to stay mentally and emotionally well and live a life you love. Wellbeing is at the heart of all we do and this challenge is fundamentally about wellbeing, mine, yours and the people that Age Connect support.
To accompany the walk I will be recording a weekly podcast on which I will be interviewing allsorts of people whilst we are out walking. I will be asking my guests to share the things that they do to stay well and healthy whatever is going on. I will also be encouraging you to commit to some small daily challenges that will help you to stay well too.
Please sponsor me for this great cause, do message me if you would like to be part of the podcast and please share this page, listen to the podcast and give me a like on Fresh Air Fridays Facebook page. Thank you in advance.Ruth
