FINAL UPDATE 2nd July
WELL, WHAT AN EXPERIENCE AND A HUGE 3 DAYS!
Feeling great today- legs stiff as boards, feet aching like mad and generally exhausted!
Cool (very early) morning starts soon turned to searing heat on each of the 3 days. Over the last handful of miles each day the heat and the feet became seriously challenging.
I covered 100 km through some superb parts of Snowdonia - same distance as two and a half marathons in three days. Saved by brilliant blister plasters, I got round each day in good time in company with Dan. This was a really well-organised event which helped a lot of people do something memorable and out of their comfort zone.
Thank you for all the support so far - I really really appreciate it.
I'll close this page soon so please if you haven't already - sponsor me and support the Snowdonia Society's practical work.
THANK YOU ! :-)
UPDATE 28th June
Tomorrow's the big day and it's going to be hot!. .
And thanks to everyone for the support that will help me get round.
UPDATE 25th June
Well! Just 3 days to go now. Excitement and nerves in equal measure.
.
HELLO, I'm attempting the Snowdonia Challenge* - a 100 kilometre walk in Snowdonia over 3 days from Friday 29th June to Sunday 1st July 2018. The route takes in over 5,000 metres of ascent - more than the height of Mont Blanc.
I'm raising money for the Snowdonia Society's practical work looking after this stunning National Park. I know how hard the Snowdonia Society volunteers and staff work throughout the year and in all weathers. So I thought I should do my bit too. That's why I'm raising money to support the volunteers' vital work of clearing litter, maintaining footpaths, tackling invasive species and managing habitats for wildlife.
Please show your support by making a donation towards conservation in Snowdonia and help me get through the training and the challenge itself!
THANK YOU SO MUCH :-)
John
