Daisy was 13 years old when she passed away.
Struck down by a terminal illness at a cruelly young-age, her family suddenly found themselves benefiting from the amazing services on offer from The Chestnut Tree House - 'the children's hospice for Sussex'. I only met Daisy a couple of times, but both her story and her strength of character struck me. Being good friends with a family close to Daisy's, I've now had the opportunity to learn a little more about the challenges that faced the family and the amazing support provided in turn by the Chestnut Tree House.
What is clear to me is what a little soldier Daisy was, and it is that theme that underpins my involvement in this year's Team Daisy 5k Mud Run. I will tackle the muddy obstacle course this July in a soldiers kit and equipment; helmet, body armour and plates, webbing & day-sack, weighing in at around 30kg. In mid-July, it should be warm too!
If you can, please spare what you can to help contribute to this amazing cause that provides the best of care in the most heart-breaking of times. The work they do for children with life-shortening conditions is simply exceptional. Thank you.
