For 25 years the Speakeasy has been providing expert and independent legal advice to some of the most vulnerable people in Cardiff and across Wales. Every year they bring compassion and hope to more than 2,000 people who have been discriminated against and marginalised. They help people to challenge unfair decisions that would otherwise leave them homeless or destitute. They hold landlords to account to make sure people have safe and secure places to live. They take carrier bags full of bills that people are too scared to open and help them renegotiate and write off their debts. They help people get control of their energy bills and keep their homes warm. They replace broken washing machines, cookers and boilers and make sure families in crisis can access emergency food. I'm jumping on my bike this upcoming bank holiday weekend to cycle 250 miles over four days to raise money and celebrate this fantastic charity. The route will skirt the Black and Cambrian Mountains; it will a beautiful ride (hoping the rain will hold off!) but no doubt a big challenge. I lived in Cardiff for 4 years and know the work Speakeasy does, it's vital. If you're able to, please dig deep and sponsor me! As an added bonus, the fundraisers who attract the highest number of sponsors in April will win up to £1,000 for their nominated charity. It doesn’t matter how much each person donates so please spread the word to your friends and make sure you donate before midnight on Monday April 30th. Thankyou.
