I deliver emotional resilience and creative arts sessions for a local charity called Transform Training. Transform do amazing work and support some of the most disadvantaged young people in our local communities. We have just launched a new project called #timetotransform that is all about making a difference and giving back, whilst promoting the importance of emotional education and emotional resilience.
Some of our emotional resilience training includes learning to recognise what helps to support your emotional resilience and wellbeing. For me I know running has really helped me in the past. Running outdoors gives me emotional and mental time out as well as a physical boost. Despite knowing how good it can make me feel I've found it really difficult to get in the habit of running regularly again.
Through #timetotransform we want to start a conversation about emotional wellbeing and resilience, so this is me kicking things off.
I'm challenging myself to run everyday for 4 weeks. I will start on Wednesday 15th August and finish on Wednesday 12th September which is when the summer holiday ends for me and I will be back delivering my weekly group for young people with learning disabilities.
The idea of running every day is inspired by the famous runner Ron Hill who ran everyday for years! Not every run needs to be a long one. Some days it will be a short 10 minute jog, but the idea is that I will be lacing up my trainers and getting out there everyday.
To help me stay motivated I'm asking for donations for #timetotransform. Help me help myself, but most importantly pay it forward to those most in need in the community. All money raised will help Transform to continue their work, and it will definitely encourage me to get those trainers on each day.
We'd love you to create your own challenge or event and share what helps to boost your emotional wellbeing and resilience. Get involved at https://localgiving.org/charity/transform-training/project/timetotransform
