I am raising sponsorship money for the Stage2 Subsidy Fund-see below for details-and will be running in the Norwich Half Marathon (flattest Half-M in UK!) on 24th November.Due to a few technical problems with getting an online giving page up and working in time, I was not able to direct everyone here who might have been interested in sponsoring me in time for the Birmingham Half Marathon which I completed recently.Hence I have entered for Norwich, which will be the grand(?) finale to my fundraising efforts.
The Stage2 Subsidy Fund enables children from families of limited means to have access to the amazing opportunities and enjoyment provided by this inspirational organisation.(NB/not to be confused with Stagecoach which is a completely different enterprise).
Stage2 is a Birmingham youth theatre company which runs every term-time Saturday at Millenium Point.Members from age 7 to 21 take part in structured games, workshops and productions right through to full length Shakespeare. My eldest son George has been part of Stage2 for 3 years, and I have been amazed how he has grown in confidence and ability (dramatic, social and organisational) over this time. His brothers, Daniel and Toby go now and have a great time.
Stage2 philosophy is that anyone can take part, no-one is ever left out, and everyone works hard and supports each other. This ethos helps kids to both develop their talents and become nice people. They also produce some exceptionally high quality performances-check them out at The Crescent -a production every term.
Like good education, ALL kids should be able to have a go at this kind of thing-the Subsidy fund allows any child to have a funded place and join in all the associated trips and opportunities, regardless of means.
If you want to know more, visit the Stage2 website which tells all. They are also always keen to attract new members....
So, if you feel like making a contribution to this very worthy local cause,I am most grateful.
