I have always been a keen runner and love competing, so the opportunity to do what I love (running) for an excellent cause (Stay Up Late) in an amazing venue (the Olympic Park) is really exciting. Stay Up Late promotes the right for people with learning disabilities to have choices about their social lives. Going out to see bands, clubbing or seeing friends is such an important part of everyday life - but people with learning disabilities may need support to do this. The charity runs a project called 'Gig Buddies' which pairs people with and without learning disabilities to go to gigs together. (see http://www.stayuplate.org/gig-buddies-project). Inspired by the brilliant band Heavy Load, Stay Up Late has grown into a really important voice for people with learning disabilities I am running as part of the Spirit of 2012 team at the National Lottery Anniversary Run on 20th July. It means that for every £1 I raise for Stay Up Late, Spirit of 2012 will give £4. So if you donate £20 they will give Stay Up Late £80. If I manage to raise £1000, Stay Up Late will receive £4000.
