The members of the church community buy extra whenever they go shopping, and each month a small group takes on the responsibility to package up the goods and have them ready for delivery. When a request comes in they deliver it. We would like to develop the bredth and scope of this ministry through the employment of a key worker to organise supermarket collections and community engagement.
Why they need our serviceThe people we deal with have no food for two primary reasons. Firstly they leave residential care in a vulnerable state and their benefits often don't kick in for a few days, leaving them with nothing. Secondly people sometimes find themselves without when they are fighting complex issues in their lives and budgeting and self-care slips down their list of priorities. Our food parcels bridges the gap, gives them some essentials to get by on and shows them that somewhere there are people who care.
Plan and expected resultsWe expect the project to grow as more recipients are helped and as the reach of the project extends.
