On 17th August 2018, a team of 9 determined colleagues from the Reigate and Banstead Family Services Team are embarking on the 26 mile round trip which is the Surrey Three Peaks Challenge. Although the scenery of the glorious Surrey countryside will be magnificent, this will be no easy feat. But, we are up for the challenge as we raise vital funds for Stripey Stork!
As we push on through the climb up Holmbury Hill, Leith Hill and Box Hill, we will be focussed on our cause! For the past 5 yrs we have been supported by Stripey Stork, a local charity which is very close to our hearts. Their concept is simple, they collect donations of new and preloved children’s items and, once safety checked and cleaned by their pool of volunteers, are distributed to disadvantaged families who need them the most. The difference they make to local families in need is just transformational and now it’s time for us to give back!
We have experienced first hand the difference which Stripey Stork is making in our local community. To be able to offer the families we support something necessary and tangible, makes such a difference. It breaks down barriers we may otherwise struggle to overcome. To be able to say “I can get that for you!” goes a long way at what is a very difficult time. Like the 16 year old boy who was made homeless and in desperate need of some clothes. The pack of clothes they provided was excellent quality and when he started college he wore his new clothes with pride. It really helped him to feel confident about his appearance and thus settle into his new life.
Stripey Stork are known for going the extra mile – like the time we asked for donations towards a residential trip kit list, and what we received with delight was the full kit list. Or the time we needed toiletries for a teenage boy and the whole family were treated to their own toiletries.
In order to achieve their goals and broaden their reach, they need a helping hand- So please give your support!
