Surviving Winter is about matching those in need - vulnerable, older people in winter - with those who can help, on a local level.

Winter is a dangerous time for the UK's older people. There are approximately 7 million households in fuel poverty. Last winter there were an estimated 25,700 preventable winter deaths across the UK. Fuel poverty causes health problems such as bronchitis and heart attacks. It can cause stress and social isolation.

2011's campaign helped 35,000 people across the UK with Surviving Winter funding: providing hot meals, help with bills, transport to the doctor and vital social contact.
