My name is Siobhan McSherry I am 29 years old and I have a Severe Learning Disability and Autism. I attend day activities, fellowship groups and social events run by the Life Project Bath, a small local charity supporting people with Learning Disabilities. We have an allotment in Bath where we grow produce to cook for our lunches or make into products to sell. Most other activities, which also include making plant supports and wood craft, arts and crafts and drama, are held at the Old Acorn Barn in Englishcombe. The lovely staff at the Life Project help me and my friends in the group to do things we otherwise couldn't and give our lives more focus.
I love to swim, swimming twice a week supported by PAs, and am participating in the Life Project's Swim 100 event to raise much needed funds for this great charity. The goal is for each swimmer to raise at least £100. When this event was last run in 2019 I swam 70 lengths in the hour and raised £715 (plus gift aid!), thanks to your wonderful generosity. I am aiming to beat 70 this year and anything vaguely close to the 2019 amount would be fab. I normally have to swim around chatty people so should do well in my own lane at Bath RUH outdoor pool on 28 July.
My dad (thanks for writing this dad) may try to swim with me but he can't keep up with my aggressive doggy paddle!
Thank you in advance for your support,
Love Siobhan X
