During the pandemic we are delivering cooked meals to the homes of the elderly and vulnerable in Nottingham to improve their health and wellbeing. We are operating Monday to Friday with volunteers who are both preparing cooked meals and providing a delivery service.
People receiving the meals pay an affordable £3 per meal if they can afford to do so and 50p delivery charge. For those referred to us who cannot afford to pay, we provide the meals free of charge or at a discounted price if they are happy to make a contribution.
From 27th March to end October we have delivered 2800 meals in Nottingham mainly to the more deprived areas in postcodes NG5, NG6 and NG8.
We have received referrals from Nottingham City Homes, Nottingham Refugee Forum, Nottingham Social Prescribing Team and the Nottingham City Council Golden Line for Covid-19 vulnerable people.
Each day we have 3 or 4 volunteers preparing meals in our kitchen and up to 3 volunteers delivering the freshly cooked hot meals.
