Age Concern volunteers will meet with local residents to offer a regular social group where older local people can come and meet like minded people, play games, talk about the good old days etc. Also in attendance will be an Information & Advice person, so that people can ask about concern and be made aware of the support available to them, in particular benefits they are entitled to. We also have the ability to link into a 'hardship' fund should this be necessary.
Why they need our serviceAge Concern is represented in various areas of Basingstoke, bringing services to older people and their families. However, we were not represented in Oakley, Chineham and Old Basing, where many older people live. This project provides a regular social inclusion group and outreach I&A sessions.
Plan and expected resultsWe hope that local residents will join this social interactive group which will meet once a month between 2-4pm at the following locations: Chineham Village Hall - 9 Jan 2012 and then every second Monday of the month (Excl 9 April) East Oakley Village Hall - 16 Jan 2012 and then every third monday of the month Old Basing - St Mary's Parish Church - 23 Jan 2012 and then every fourth Monday of the month. We also hope that attendeed will ask questions about benefits or anything else.
