These are specialised mats, filled with foam with a jersey covering; they act in the same way as a pit filled with foam. We are not allowed by our landlords to dig landing pits, so these mats are the next best alternative. They remove the fear factor from new skills but also add the fun factor for younger gymnasts and the more daring. In gymnastics we are always safety conscious and these mats will also tick that box.

All the children/young adults use our tumble tracks; these mats have the same effect as landing in a foam pit. Our little springer will love jumping from the track into these mats, our development gymnasts will learn low level tumbling skill and use them for landing, and our squad tumblers & teenage freestyle members will use them to land advance and intricate tumbles. These mats will be used by all who attend our gym club.

Having this equipment will mean a safer and more fun landing area from our track. Therefore skills will be achieved quicker. Our tumblers currently compete at county and national level but these mats will enable them to improve their tumbling skills to achieve elite and even international standard. The local teenagers who take part in freestyle gymnastics will improve their skills on these mats and bring along their friends. This we hope will result in less anti-social behaviour in the area
