The Archway Project will: inspire the next generation of archaeologists; unlock the rich history of Bath; and reveal more of the Roman site to the public for the very first time. A new Learning Centre will provide a hands-on and accessible learning experience to young people, set among in-situ Roman remains. The World Heritage Centre will interpret Bath's World Heritage Site and inspire people to go and explore it. A hidden area of the Roman Baths will open up for the very first time.
Why they need our serviceThe learning facilities at the Roman Baths are over-subscribed and inadequate for the needs of 21st century learners. There is nowhere for residents and visitors to learn about why Bath is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Finally, it will conserve Roman archaeology and collections that are under immediate threat.
Plan and expected results25,000 people will benefit from the new Learning Centre. This includes young people, families and community groups. Over 100,000 people will visit the World Heritage Centre each year and be inspired to go out explore Bath's heritage across the city. Over 1,000,000 annual visitors to the Roman Baths will have an enhanced visitor experience.
