Art historian Juliet Heslewood looks at the way artists in the past, from the Romans onwards, have depicted the sea in their work. Their views range from illustrations from literature, tempest and calm, divine intervention, personal reflection and even distorting abstraction. In recent times the coast has provided a suitable medium where nature itself can participate in the creation of a work of art. Juliet talks on many subjects from the history of art, but the sea has always fascinated her and in her talk 'The Sea! The Seaside!' she includes work created in Pembrokeshire, a place she has known and loved for years.
