Provision of free, confidential 1-1 counselling and support servivces to young people aged 11-25 by highly trained and accredited local volunteers. Project supports vulnerable, disadvantaged young people to address issues including relationship problems, lack of confidence, depression, anxiety, risky sexual behaviour, drink & drug abuse and anger management. Project enables young people to regain confidence, self-esteem and deal with emotional and critical issues in a positive and safe way.

Off The Record receives 7000 contacts a year mainly from vulnerable and disadvantaged young people presenting serious to severe emotional, behavioural and health issues. We provide a safe space to talk, free of criticism or judgement, explore issues and address them. Key factors (contemporary social patterns, economic deprivation and family breakdown) are increasing. We aim to see clients quickly and renable hope and solutions through proven talking therapies.

Evidence shows 97% clients confirm improved situation and ability to deal with problems and issues following counselling. Monitored results show reduction in risky or anti-social behaviour, improved family relationships, increased attendance and achievement at school/work, improved confidence and self-worth. Young people are also able to acknowledge critical conditions requiring specialist support e.g. mental illness or addiction. The service is trusted and respected by the community.
