Holly Moriarty was simply unique. A one off, a truly amazing, inspirational woman who to me was perfect in everyway. That included her being a type 1 diabetic. Holly was diagnosed as a Type 1 diabetic from the age of 5. There is presently no cure for type 1 diabetes. It is a life changing condition which affects a persons everyday life in ways the rest of us cannot ever comprehend. Despite her illness, Holly never let this beat her or stop her from doing anything. She inspired and helped so many who were to suffering from the condition and spent lots of time educating young children who had just been diagnosed as diabetics and showed them that they could still live life to the fullest and complete all their dreams and ambitions. In December 2016 Holly sadly passed away leaving a hole in mine and her families heart that will never heal. In true Holly spirit she would have wanted us to get back on the horse and live life to the fullest. In her own words, ' go hard or go home'. As such I've signed up to compete in a 12 mile Tough Mudder race in September, a race which Holly herself wanted to take part in this year. This is a race through mud, more mud and even more mud, whilst trying to tackle difficult obstacle over a 12 mile course. My training to date involves having a diet coke with my pizza instead of a full fat one. The race is in 3 weeks so I'm up against it. My aim is to raise funds for the Charity that gave Holly so much when she was a child and also who she in turn helped as she got older in helping other kids get to grips with finding out they have a life long chronic condition. Any donations to such a worthy cause would be gratefully received. If nothing else to see me drown in lots of mud!
