To provide over 400 short breaks/respite for disadvantaged children aged 7 to 11 years. All the children travel to Silverdale, near Morecambe, where they enjoy a free residential holiday by the sea and in the countryside. Silverdale Holiday Centre is situated within an Area of Outstanding Beauty overlooking Morecambe Bay. Activities are organised for the children to encourage them to develop confidence and self-esteem together with personal skills and friendships through play and fun.

Why they need our service

The children and families who benefit from the service of the charity live in the most deprived areas of Leeds and are disadvantaged for many reasons including poverty, neglect, abuse, victims of domestic violence and more. Families, schools, social workers, support agencies all fully endorse the service of the charity as an extension of their work and a unique service that is something they cannot provide themselves. The service benefits the whole family providing respite for all.

Plan and expected results

The many hundreds of children who benefit from the services of the charity are encouraged to develop personal skills and confidence to help them deal with difficult home situations and to have the confidence to achieve at school, gain life skills through achievement, and grow to be responsible adults. Families, schools, and communities also benefit from the changed behaviour of the children who are much more confident, happier, and able to add something to their community.
