Refugee Action Colchester is an amazing local charity which helps support refugees, asylum seekers and migrants in the local area. Recent events worldwide have led to a dramatic increase in people seeking safety and security in the UK from countries such as Afghanistan, Kurdistan, Yemen, Eritrea, Sudan, Iran, Iraq, Syria and, most recently, Ukraine. My mum, Jenny, and her colleagues work with many of these people through their work at Colchester Insitute in the ESOL department and she has opened my eyes to the work Refugee Action does and also to the many barriers that stand in the way of refugees, asylum seekers and migrants accessing education, health and housing, among other things. I would like to raise money through my skydive to make a contribution to Refugee Action Colchester and help people access some of the things which I have so often taken for granted.
