I'm completing the 8-10 mile Tough Mudder this year in South Gloucestershire to fundraise for Somerset Accident Voluntary Emergency Service (SAVES) - one of the British Association for Immediate Care Schemes.
This will be the first time I've done any form of 'challenge'. I've never ran a marathon and I'm not a fan of getting muddy!!
** About Tough Mudder **
Tough Mudder Classic is one 8-10 mile loop of mud-soaked mayhem loaded with 25 best-in-class obstacles. Featuring 25 obstacles across up to 10 miles of filthy trail, and the chance t be electrocuted and iced - tough mudder is the ultimate test of mind and body.
Expect cutting edge innovation and thrilling challenges for maximum limit-testing.
** About SAVES **
SAVES is a local charity which provides and supports a network of volunteer doctors to support the ambulance service across Somerset. The cost of equipping a new doctor is around £10,000.
Between April 2017 and March 2018—four volunteer doctors responded to 163 incidents. These include road traffic collisions, cardiac arrests, critically ill children and requests from ambulance crews for support (such as additional pain relief).
** How your donation helps **
Medical equipment is expensive and has a short shelf-life to ensure the equipment remains sterile. Your donations will contribute towards equipment SAVES needs to provide patient care.
£9—A Disposable child oxygen and pulse sensor.
£20—A laryngeal mask airway—used to support breathing or part of a PALM procedure.
£250—An EZ-IO drill to gain vascular access and administer emergency infusions and medications.
£450—Personal Protective Equipment for one of our responders.
£2,500—Blue light fitting of a response doctors vehicle.
