A bit of a 'Do!'.....The Ilkeston Advice and Training centre for DHA, held a very successful celebration event on 16th December 2012. Over 40 people attended; The Mayor of Ilkeston & our biggest supporter, Matthew from the Big Lottery. Many local organisations and charities were there; the Police, Probation, The Local Council, and even the Loan Shark Investigation Team for East & West Midlands, based at Birmingham City Council. DHA Staff from Derby and Trustees also attended.
Why they need our serviceThere were presentations from the CEO, the Chair of Trustees and the Centre Manager. In addition, Jo Burrows; one of the many people DHA have been able to help; told her powerful transformation story. The guests varied from ongoing supporters of the Charity, to other local charities and organisations who refer their clients for DHA to help.
Plan and expected resultsJo told her story about being made redundant and her hopeless search for a job until doing a food safety course with DHA and being helped to start her own catering business which is now doing well. Jo did the catering for the event and lots of people showed an interest in her Vintage Tea and Cakes catering idea, for their forthcoming events.
