I am a very lucky parent of a child who goes to this incredible school. My son has autism, ADHD & ODD & presents with very complex & challenging behaviours. The Collett School provides him with the tools he needs to have an extremely happy school life & this is done in a caring, nurturing way. I cannot praise the staff enough for the difference they have made to all of our lives & now James loves going to school!
There is no other school like The Collett in Hertfordshire. They take kids from 4-16 with a range of disabilities & needs. Every child is tailored for and their individual requirements are met in a way that ensures they can succeed & work to their strengths. The pupils have many different diagnoses and are very diverse but they are all catered for in a warm, safe setting. This is a truly wonderful, exceptional place and I have nothing but admiration for the staff & kids, they are inspirational.
The school has a vision to make special spaces to capture the kids' imaginations and provide them with a more enriching learning experience. These spaces will allow kids to further, not only their learning but to engage and cope with the world outside. They will benefit from learning life skills & be able to increase their independence which are things most of us take for granted. The plan is to build a house so the children can carry out everyday tasks such as cooking, cleaning, laundry etc.
This is a mammoth task & as the school is already underfunded so we need some help to make this a reality. Together we can make a massive difference to the lives of the current pupils & for those in the future, but we need cash.
I am going to jump out of a plane because I believe in The Collett with all my heart. You don't need to do that but please, please make a donation towards this amazing project. Any amount however small will be gratefully received.
