TSB Reading & Goring

The customers at TSB Reading & Goring have chosen Reading Mencap to be our new Local Charity Partner. We have pledged to raise £1,000 for the learning disability charity. In total, TSB is supporting nearly 500 local causes from across Britain, chosen from over 25,000 nominations from customers, members of the general public and Partners who work for the Bank. We’re busy planning lots of fundraising activities for the coming months and can’t wait to build our partnership with Reading Mencap and support the vital work that they do for our local community. Reading Mencap is an independent charity affiliated to the UK’s leading learning disability charity, the Royal Mencap Society, from whom they receive no financial support. As a small local charity set up over 50 years ago, they rely on the generosity of our community to help fund their work. Reading Mencap is passionate about supporting people of all ages with learning disabilities and autism, and their families and carers. Their vision is a world in which people with a learning disability are treated as equals and have equality of life opportunities, free from discrimination. Unfortunately, many people with a learning disability and their families struggle to cope on a daily basis as they face issues such as poverty and debt, ill health, poor housing, hate crime, lack of respite, isolation and inappropriate social care. The charity therefore provides information, advice and support services for families to alleviate these problems, as well as regular leisure activity groups for children and adults with learning disabilities and respite for family carers.
