Together my cousin Catherine, my Mum Karen and Myself are taking on the challenge of the Liverpool 10k Tunnel Run on the 1st October 2017. We would like to raise as much money as possible for a small charity who help support My Auntie, Mums Sister and Catherine's Mum, Alison, face the challenges she faces coping with Dementia.
The Forget-Me-Not Dementia Group is a self help and support group for people with memory problems, their carers, family and friends. They organise, speakers, practical information, support and guidance, trips out and much more. This kind of support is vital for My Auntie Alison and many others like her, without Forget Me Not's Alison's routine would be all out of sorts, we have seen this all too much with other family members who have dealt with this terrible disease also.
Us takin part in this challenge is a test in ourselves to conquer emotions, strength and determination. Even though the distance isn't too far this will be a huge challenge for us and together the 3 of us can do this to raise as much awareness and donations as possible. Please dig deep, you never know when this disease is going to affect someone, our worlds have been turned upside and shook side to side but because of this charity Alison is able to get some of the support she needs.
Alison is the proud Mum of 2 wonderful daughters who have pulled together and always put Alison's health at the forefront, with their own small families too. As a family we love them to bits and thank Forget Me Not Charity on behalf of the whole family in their support for them and Alison.
