*UPDATE* Rebecca and Peter Shadforth are cycling the Coast to Coast route in October 2015 - the more sponsors they get the harder it will make it for Rebecca to give up!!
*UPDATE* Thanks to everyone that has helped raise money so far in Easter fundraisers, Cake sales, Duathlons and football tournaments, to name a few.
This year a majority staff vote at Vantec appointed Hug in a Bag as their charity of choice.
The inspiration for this choice was Gill Burn, who worked for Vantec at the Komatsu UK site in Birtley. Gill battled breast cancer for 4 years and was extremely passionate about helping the charity do for others what it had done for her - provide people facing this indiscriminate illness with gifts, information and support at a time when they are feeling alone, vulnerable and very frightened of the unknown.
Gill was 48 when she sadly lost her battle on 11th September 2014, but has left a legacy in Hug in a Bag. Her inspiration lead to the Charity opening a second branch in Blackpool which has provided over 600 women with a "Hug" since start up. She was passionate about fund-raising for the Charity in the North East, and Vantec staff will be raising money throughout 2015 in memory of, and as a tribute to Gill.
