When I casually agreed to signing up for Tough Mudder, I didn't really think through what kind of course it will be like and the training it will involve. Usually I research the crap out of stuff before agreeing to anything, but I think bravado got the better of me. Tough Mudder, in case you didn't know, is a 12-mile endurance event designed by the military.. You see, I like a challenge and I considered myself to be relatively fit. But some online reading and a few weeks of training has changed my mindset. Now it's just about being 'in it to finish it'; nothing more, nothing less. Actually, that's a lie. It's not only personally important that I finish the course. It's also important to the local charities that I am supporting. Big name charities - whilst worthy causes - get the lion's share of sponsorship, but of equal importance is supporting your community. By sponsoring me, you will be supporting small charities that educate, counsel and mentor people that you may even know. The good causes could be local hospices, schools and trusts that may have been greatly affected by cuts in spending or require additional funding due to the additional workload that a precarious economy brings. So give us a bit of dosh, and if I die trying at least it was for something worthwhile!
