Let's start by saying, I love walking, but unfortunately my legs don't like me doing it.
For about 12 years or so I have had issues with my legs. Some days it's good, some days its bad. I recently (1st July) took part in a sponsored walk from Chorley to Euxton which worked out around 6 miles in total. It was a good day.
Over the years I have managed to walk to Fylde (twice), Rivington and back (several times), Bamber Bridge (it's been a while), but you get the point.
I've never done the route to Southport before and given that Fylde are now promoted I thought, "Ah, why not?"
So, there it is. I'm doing the walk to Southport and currently I will be doing this alone. Fun, right?
Now for the reasons and charities I will be supporting:
I had a rush of energy whilst sitting eating my pizza and thought "Ah, that could be fun".. But seriously...
Derian House Children's Hospice - Some people might ask why I want to support this cause. I may have not had the need to use their facilities but I know plenty of families across the North West will have. It is situated in my birth town of Chorley and their work is fantastic - Just look at their socials!
Chorley FC Community Foundation - As the charity branch of my beloved Chorley FC, it would be rude not too. The work they do inside the community of Chorley is outstanding. Ranging from Sporting Memories to Walking Football and Half Term Soccer Schools. Again, check their socials. Great work.
Magpies Trust - Finally. An organisation that I have been part of for 10 years (on and off). I am currently the Chair of the Trust and I strongly believe in everything the group of supporters stand for. Supporters are the oil in the machinery of football clubs and without them, clubs would cease. We are a non-profit organisation which is ran by the fans, for the fans. What we do, is to benefit you.
If you've read all that, thank you! Spare a quid?
If you're driving to Southport, don't beep and wave. Throw me a doughnut or something...
