We are members of St Anne and All Saints Church's congregation. We want to support our local dementia charity, the Healthy Living Club and we're walking from Vauxhall to Greenwich which is about 10miles.
For some of us that's a real challenge.
If you wish to join us we will be leaving from the church (which is on South Lambeth Road, corner of Miles Street, SW8 1RL) at 11 am on Saturday 17th October.
The more the merrier!
We have a sponsor who has kindly offered to donate £5 for every person who completes the walk and £10 for anyone on a wheelchair. Hopefully see you there.
If the weather is too bad we'll postpone to the following week.
If you can't come, please support us with a donation. The Healthy Living Club does amazing work, is considered a model example of good practice by several think-tanks (like the Social Care Institute for Excellence), and the people with dementia who go there love it. It supports carers too, and many define it as a life-line. However, the Club has no statutory funding, and relies on the fund-raising efforts of its own volunteers and the generosity of the local community.
So we hope you'll give generously, resting assured that your money will be used wisely. The South London Health Innovation Network (HIN) measured the Social Return on investment of the Club, and their study found that the charity's annual expenditure of £30,784 (plus the resources in kind they leverage in, including £58,736 worth of volunteers' time) generate £506,094 worth of ‘social value’.
In other words, this is an opportunity to contribute to a very special cause to which even a small donation will make a HUGE difference, and we can guarantee that all donations will be received VERY gratefully.
In the meantime, many, many warm thanks for having read so far. Thank you!
