I'm walking 1000 miles this year, if Jah is willing, in order to raise money for Fairfield House: His Imperial Majesty Qedamawi Haile Selassie's home in Bath, UK during the exile 1936 - 1941.
In 1954 on a return visit to the UK, 'HIM was bestowed the honour of being made a Freeman of the City of Bath. When he left the City his wish was for Fairfield house to be used by the elderly which Bath City Council honoured. In more recent years the house has been the base for Action for Pensioners, BEMSCA and various other local organisations.'
In 2011 Bath City council threatened to sell Fairfield House as they said they could no longer afford to maintain it. This lead to public outcry and statements of support published online by supporters from all over the world. Following a meeting with the council a trust was set up with the aim of restoring the House and creating a museum and space for celebrations etc. The trust is made up of RasTafari, the Ethiopian community and BEMSCA (Bath Ethnic Minority Senior Citizens Association). The work continues and the site is now used for RasTafari celebrations, Ethiopian celebrations, hosting exhibitions and by the elders in the community
