After watching a film called The Way, about a man who loses his son and embarks upon the Camino de Santiago walk to scatter his son's ashes. I wanted to DO something. The film was inspirational and moving, and I immediately wanted to WALK THE WAY! Serendipitously, the next day at work, I received a wellbeing email that was inviting people to walk a part of the Camino de Santiago so with a big grin, I registered my interest. Last week (in February) the invite arrived in my inbox and I again immediately said 'YES!'.
I will walk 90km over four days with four strangers from the 22nd to the 28th of September 2024. I will do this with Siendo, a workplace wellbeing support and training provider in the UK.
90km is a long way! But I love walking, and my legs are my strongest part. The walk will involve a 33km trek on our longest day, and it will be a lot of time for me to think, daydream, be mindful, reflect, and walk! Why am I doing it? I'm 45 years old. I've done a half marathon, a sprint triathlon, and local races, but running is beyond me now! I wanted to walk a long way, be with nature entirely, and raise money for the incredible charity I work for. I have been with BYHP for four years; it is my second home. The people, the work we do, everything about BYHP makes my heart sing. I am so blessed to be a part of it and be training to be a counsellor so I can stay with them. I want to give back to the charity that has enabled me to follow my dream, be part of a family and do the work that I am so very passionate about. Please give generously! I want the blisters, burnt nose, tan lines, and exhaustion to be worth every single penny! Thank you from my toes to my head and from the bottom of my heart - Libby x

Good Friday stomp! Had no idea that this walk was almost 10km, on the doorstep. The sun was out, it was very slow as we were ankle deep in mud but how beautiful to be out in the sunshine!
Libby's fundraising page will be accepting donations for another 221 days.
Good luck with the walk Libby This is money raised at The Mitre in Buckingham with our charity BBQ this weekend. Pete
