Freedom Warriors are a group of fabulous women who met while on the Freedom Programme facilitated by Northumberland Domestic Abuse Services in 2022.
The freedom journey has been life changing for the women who learned about the traits and personas of victims and perpetrators of domestic abuse. As the programme unfolded there was a mix of emotions; sadness, fear, anger, disappointment, frustration, to name a few....along with many "light bulb" moments when the reality and magnitude of everything they had collectively experienced during their abusive relationships dawned on them.
The positive news is....the emotional enlightening experience has equipped the women with the knowledge to help them to identify "red flags" of dominators in the future and skills to help build healthy relationships.
After the emotional, enlightening journey the group would like to raise funds for the charity who have helped them so much. As the women had the strength to walk away from their relationships they have chosen to complete a sponsored walk signifying their walk to freedom.
