I am off to Jordan in October to tackle the amazing Wadi Rum 100km desert trek, to fundraise for a local charity, Faith in Families https://bit.ly/3R5v6nx. Sponsor me and you could win a week’s holiday in Gower (Brandy Cove) The Airbnb sleeps 2, the week is your choice…the perfect gift maybe? £10 donation=1 ticket. You can buy (donate) as many tickets as you like. Names chosen by a computer generated draw in November (leave your name with your donation) WHY? After life changing events 10 years ago, I allowed myself to shy away from new adventures and experiences, convincing myself I was content in my shrinking world. Friends and family could see it…I refused to look. Confronting past trauma can be more stressful than the experience itself, but thanks to a dear friend, some home truths and soul-searching…I am digging myself out of this hole, changing the way I think, and making change happen. My children have been my beacons of light, despite coping with the same trauma. They are also lucky. Now young adults, they want for nothing and have bright futures ahead of them. Our story however, is nothing compared to what many families on our doorstep have to endure every day. The Faith in Families charity, support vulnerable families facing challenges of poverty, hunger, homelessness and addiction. Over 34% of children in Wales are living in deep poverty. More than 1 in 3 grow up believing that being cold, hungry and homeless is the norm. Swansea has its very own children’s charity, working in creative and intuitive ways to support children and their families to believe and achieve a different life. Whilst there will always be children in our city having their childhoods filled with hopelessness, I want to play my part in making a difference to those living in trauma and chaos. Please help me, to help the charity help others…I am willing to walk like never before and get blisters! Thank you so much Rachel xx
